Volunteer Activities• Campground Host Photo Courtesy of FS DescriptionCampground Host The Sawbill Lake Campground is a beautiful, pine studded, campground on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on the Superior National Forest in northeastern Minnesota. The 50 site campground, on Sawbill Lake, sits adjacent to Sawbill Canoe Outfitters, the Concessionaire for the campground. Sawbill Lake Campground is rustic (no in site hookups). It is a busy campground for people tent camping and RV’s alike. Sites are large and private. The season generally runs from early May until mid October. We will consider applicants that are available for a partial season. Duties Include: – Daily cleaning of the 10 outhouses (we have a strong reputation for cleanliness so this is a primary component of the job) – Daily compliance checks, including ensuring campers are checked in and paid, number of vehicles and oversight of campground rules. – Completion of daily occupancy logs. – Daily posting of reservation tags. – Other light maintenance as needed; brushing, shoveling ash from fire grates, painting picnic tables. Benefits: – Camping for the duration of stay. – Water and propane hookups (no electrical or in-site waste dumping, dumpstation on property) – Use of golf cart, tools, cleaning supplies. – Use of internet and cell phone access nearby at Sawbill Canoe Outfitters. – $500/month reimbursement Preferred dates for availability are May, 21, 2020 – September 8, 2020.
