This facility has 14 sites with three vault toilets. Other duties include periodic patrols of two adjacent smaller campgrounds, Island and Rock Creek. Hosts are friendly on-site representatives of the Forest Service; they welcome campers, answer questions and acquaint visitors with facilities, regulations, and fees. Host assists Forest Service staff with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the campground. Good communication skills, working with and the ability to deal with the public in a friendly and courteous manner are essential. Duties include cleaning and stocking restrooms, picking-up trash, raking fire pits, picking up litter, painting/staining, keeping campsites clean, maintaining use records, visitor contacts and other general repairs/cleaning to facilities. Volunteers must have a self-contained recreational vehicle in which to live in at the site, and must be available to staff the area most weekends and holidays. The host site has a sewer hook-up; however, there is no water or electricity. The season is weather dependent but typically is Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends. Camp Hosts may arrive earlier and stay later. Couples are encouraged to apply. A reimbursement for allowed expenses may be available.
