Description

All campground host/resident volunteer positions with CPW are unpaid volunteer positions.

In exchange for your service, you receive a free RV site (water, electric, sewer) and for the duration of your stay, and a free State Parks Pass after 48 hours of service (verified by the hours you enter in your volunteer account). Positions, duties and responsibilities can include maintenance, upkeep of the campground, greeting and checking in guests, and assisting with selling park passes at the entrance stations.

CAMPGROUND:

Duties include greeting guests, providing information or offering other assistance to park visitor; validating reservation cards, and removing expired camping permits.  Hosts will clean campsites after vacated and perform basic landscaping duties,  Hosts will also report incidents or situations to the rangers as needed.  Campground Office staff will also be responsible for running the front office, checking in campers, and selling retail.

ENTRANCE STATIONS:

Duties will include greeting and assisting park visitors; helping with questions, selling park passes, registrations, monitoring radio communications, word processing and data entry, and helping with special events as needed.  This position is fast paced and there are long periods of standing.

MAINTENANCE:

Duties include the upkeep of specific areas of the park, assisting visitors with information, reporting emergencies and/or incidents as needed to rangers, and reporting any safety hazards.

 

Key professional skills and abilities necessary for these positions include: excellent customer service, solid math and cashier skills, flexibility with scheduling, and strong computer skills. Applicant should be comfortable working in a very busy office environment and working alone.

Season: September 2020 – April 2021
