DESCRIPTION:

Seeking to fill three 3 Beach Fee attendant /Visitor Center positions from May 15th through September 5th 2023

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Beech Fork Lake has volunteer opportunities for you during the upcoming recreation season: May through September 2023.

 

Beech Fork Lake is seeking to fill four Beach attendant/VC host positions. Volunteers would be required to work up to 30 hours per week. There is flexibility to create a schedule that best suites all volunteers if it provides coverage during beach hours.

 

Duties would include assisting the Natural Resource Management staff by managing and providing visitors with a quality recreational experience at the beach and visitor center. Some duties include checking fee machine, assisting public with questions and directions, water safety promotion, selling passes, and light maintenance work such as mowing and trimming. Volunteers stay in a campground just for them; referred to the Volunteer Village. Sites feature concrete pads, water, 30 and 50 amp electric hookups, and sewage. A washer and dryer are provided free of charge to volunteers. Camping units must be self-contained. There is no restroom or shower house in the campground.

 

The occupant(s) on each campsite will work a specific schedule that requires a maximum of 30 hours per week per site. Volunteers must commit to a long term agreement (mid May thru early September).

 

Requirements:

–   Volunteers are expected to provide their own camper (Please provide a

Photo and length of your camper)

–   Must be capable of performing light physical work.

–   Ability to effectively communicate with the public.

–   Ability to maintain a schedule.

–   Willingness to commit to a long term agreement.

–   Wear the provided Park Host uniform while performing duties.

 

DUTIES

The occupant(s) on each campsite will work a specific schedule that requires a minimum of 24 hours per week per site. Volunteers must commit to a long term agreement (May thru early September).

QUALIFICATIONS

Volunteers are expected to provide their own camper (Please provide a photo and length of your camper)

–    Have own mode of transportation

–   Must be capable of performing light physical work.

–   Ability to effectively communicate with the public.

–   Ability to maintain a schedule.

–   Willingness to commit to a long term agreement.

–   Wear the provided Park Host uniform while performing duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT

o  Work environment is mostly outdoor at our beach, walking the area routinely and opening/closing the gate at then beginning and end of shifts. Not required to be out there all day, so plenty of time to cool off indoors throughout shifts if wanted/needed.

o  If visitor center shifts are needed, those are primarily indoor. Some garden upkeep may be needed.
