DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for campground hosts to operate around a core schedule of Friday-Monday at 5 campgrounds which includes Farewell Bend, Union Creek, Whiskey Springs, Doe Point and Fish Lake.

We are looking for campground hosts to operate around a core schedule of Thursday-Monday at 5 campgrounds which includes Farewell Bend, Union Creek, Whiskey Springs, Doe Point and Fish Lake. Full hookups are available at all campgrounds except Whiskey Springs. Cell phone service is spotty to non-existent. We are considering both families and individuals for each campground.

We are planning to provide a negotiated cost-of-living reimbursement.

 

DUTIES

-Provide visitor information and assistance to campers with reservations and who are looking for first-come/first-serve sites.

-Help resolve issues between campers and provide conservation education and etiquette tips. Some interpretative opportunities may arise.

-Assist with cleaning restrooms, stocking toilet paper, cleaning out fire-pits, extinguishing abandoned campfires, splitting firewood and tracking maintenance needs.

-Educate the public about fees and campground regulations.

-Assist with various maintenance if interested such as campsite repairs and signage.

-Work with Forest Service employees to monitor daily operations in the campground.

-Based on driving history, use of government vehicles may be needed but is not required. Small electric vehicles/bikes are available at most locations for increased mobility.

-Tracking changes in reservations and recording basic information about visitors arrival times and vehicles/license plates when needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

-A positive, welcoming attitude is the most important character of hosts with a commitment to customer service.

-Conflict resolution skills with the public.

-Past experience as a host is preferred but not required.

-Ability to safely operate hand and power tools when needed, but is not required.

-Minor skills in book-keeping/tracking

-Driver’s license with a clean driving record is preferred.

-Ability to commit to the operating season.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

These campgrounds vary in size and development scale as follows:

-Farewell Bend: flush toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, garbage, water, and river access for fishing and wading.

-Union Creek: vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, garbage, water, and creek access for fishing and wading.

-Doe Point: flush toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, water, garbage, and Lake access for fishing, boating and swimming.

-Fish Lake: flush toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, water, garbage, and Lake access for fishing, boating and swimming.

-Whiskey Springs: vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings and garbage. Water may not be available for 2023 season.

Weather can vary dramatically from heavy rain to high summer temperatures. Most areas are heavily shaded however with large characteristic conifers. Most days in mid-summer are in the 80-90 degree temperature range with blue skies.

Reserved campsites tend to be booked months in advance. First-come/first-serve site are usually full from Friday through Sunday and holidays.
