Job Purpose/Description:

Ausable Chasm Recreation Center is located in the Northern Adirondacks and is paired with the oldest natural attraction in America, open since 1870.  We are seeking a live-in host that will assist with management of the campground.  The campground manager will have a dedicated and experienced staff, some of which have been with the campground for over a decade.  Our campground is open from May 19th – October 15th and features 8 rustic cabins, 35 rustic tent sites, 42 water & electric RV sites, and 33 full hookup RV sites.  More information about our campground and attraction can be found here: https://www.ausablechasm.com/ausable-chasm-campground

The Campground Manager will work with the employees in their department to facilitate a safe and fun experience for customers staying at the campground. Supports company operations by providing guidance and oversight to the campground employees and manages daily operations.

Job Duties:

The Campground Manager works with directly with the staff in their department and campers to provide/obtain feedback and guidance for daily operations. Must remain current with all skills relevant to the job, communicate with and assist other departments as needed, and create a fun/productive campground environment for staff and customers. Participate in regular progress evaluations and meetings. Assist with the training of new department employees as needed. Operate registers, credit card machines and handheld electronic devices. Assist with advertising and promotion of campground as needed. Maintain appropriate stock of materials and items associated with daily campground operations. Maintain professional and welcoming appearance of main building and checkout counter. Assist with morning setup and evening closing. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Candidate must be detail oriented, work well with others and possess superior people skills. Ability to multitask and answer phones. Extensive knowledge of chasm property, activities and operations. Proficient use of cash registers and credit card machines. Possess computer skills, including word, excel, email, etc. Communicate well with guides, managers and co-workers. Candidate must be a self-starter, maintain a proactive work ethic even under stress/pressure, possess diagnostic skills, meet deadlines, and must abide by company handbooks.

 

Preferred: Ability to oversee large groups and/or projects throughout the day and adapt to a variable work load. Prior managerial experience.
