Daniel Boone National Forest, London Ranger District encompasses 208,044 acres sandwiched between the Kentucky and Cumberland Rivers and spread across eight counties: Laurel, Whitley, Rockcastle, Jackson, Estill, Owsley, and Pulaski.

The London District provides trails, campgrounds, picnic areas, a shooting range, and numerous water recreation activities centered around Laurel Lake, Lake Cumberland and two state designated Kentucky Wild Rivers- the Cumberland River and Rockcastle River.

 

Bee Rock Campground is located 18 miles from London Kentucky. The scenic Rockcastle River splits the campground. There are 25 campsites, 20 single sites, 4 double sites, 1 host (site with water and septic). There is 1 day use site on the Rockcastle River with a picnic table and grill (no camping in this site).  There is a boat ramp, and the Old Sublimity Bridge that was built by the CCC in the late 1930’s. Visitors enjoy fishing, canoeing, boating, and hiking nearby trails as well as enjoying the shaded campsites.

There are water spigots throughout the campground and 2 bear proof dumpsters available for campers.

5 day per week (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday)

 

DUTIES

·      Monitoring campsite occupancy

·      Greet and assist the public with information on camping, regulations, and camping fees

·      Maintain records of occupancy and submit to Forest Service Collection Officer.

·      Perform clean up of restrooms and campsites. This includes litter pick up, fire ring clean out, and rake sites

·      Inform Forest Service officers of any problems

·      Mow and weed eat

·      Perform other duties as necessary

·      Cleaning supplies will be provided

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

·      Have “Good Host” customer service skills to communicate and behave in a professional, pleasant, and respectful manner with all forest visitors, volunteers, and Forest Service personnel.

·      Practice and promote all Forest Service safety practices and protocols relevant to host duties and visitor/customer interactions.

·      Capable of clear verbal and written communications in English

·      Walk on uneven terrain, bending and stooping frequently and able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds

·      Use of common tools including shovels, rakes, brooms, mowers, weed eaters, and common cleaning supplies.

·      Ability to manage time and tasks efficiently and effectively.

·      A background check is required
