Job Description

Volunteering as a Park Host for Douglas County Parks in Oregon provides a beautiful setting for a rewarding and memorable park host experience!  You may enjoy our coastal parks by crabbing, fishing, riding ATVs in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, or just walking on the beach.  Or you can come to our inland parks and enjoy a variety of activities such as fishing on the Umpqua River, visiting waterfalls, touring wineries, etc. Volunteers play an essential role in helping us provide a quality outdoor recreation experience for our visitors.  Park Hosts are often the first to meet and greet arriving guests and provide them with key information about the parks’ amenities and local recreational opportunities.

What are the benefits of hosting?

·In exchange for volunteer service hours, parks provide hosts a full hookup RV site with paid utilities during the tenure of their host placement.

·$10/day Stipend offered during Peak Season

·Laundry facilities (on site or off site)

·Wi-Fi services on site (excludes some parks)

·Meet people and experience new adventures

Requirements

·Hosts must be at least 18 years old and are required to pass a criminal background check.

·Hosts must provide their own RV or camping unit; lodging cannot be provided.

·Host assignments typically require a minimum commitment of 30 days.

·The duties that are required usually take no more than 25 hours a week. Hosts work 5 days a week with 2 days off.

·Hosts should enjoy working with the public, have the desire to accept new challenges, and possess the willingness to learn about Douglas County Parks.

What are the duties of a host?

All hosts provide excellent customer service to visitors and give information on park facilities, resources, park rules, and local attractions. Given the diversity of Douglas County Parks, varying in size, structure, and needs, additional host tasks vary from park to park. Duties include: litter collection, cleaning restroom facilities, cleaning campsites, cleaning cabins/yurts, light maintenance, reservation tags, and fee collection.
