JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Tucson Field Office is seeking enthusiastic volunteers with interest to volunteering as a site host at the Fairbank Historic Townsite. The townsite is located in the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area (SPRNCA) in southern Arizona. The volunteer would serve as the liaison between public visitors to the townsite and as a day-to-day grounds caretaker. Volunteer duties would include the following:
Meet, greet and inform visitors about the townsite and the SPRNCA.
Grounds and facility maintenance operations. Examples include opening and closing the gate, performing light maintenance work around the trails, grounds, and paths, checking restrooms, restocking flyers, and maintaining the picnic grounds.
Monitor recreational use and site conditions.
Reporting on the conditions of the site and facilities.
Volunteers should have an RV or travel trailer for the volunteer position, have camping or personal equipment, food, and a reliable cell phone.
The BLM would furnish the following:
Use of a space to set up an RV or travel trailer.
Water hookup.
Electric hookup.
Propane refills.
Septic tank hookup.
Grounds maintenance tools.
The volunteer position requires a minimum three-month commitment. The site host may be tasked to work on weekends or holidays, dependent on peak public visitation, minimum 25 hours per work as negotiated between BLM and the volunteer, volunteer training would be provided by the BLM.
The volunteer site host is supervised by the SPRNCA Park Ranger.
Previous volunteer site host experience is preferred along with a list of references.
