Illinois River Forks- Day Use Host

Host Team preferred.  Exceptions can be made for the right candidate(s).

This little known rural day-use park is a little off the beaten track.  Situated just off Hwy 199 between the amazing Redwood Coast and the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon and located on the Illinois River, this park is where the east and west forks meet just outside of the small town of Cave Junction. During the summer months, it’s a great place for visitors to cool off from the summer’s heat or for hikers and equestrians to access scenic trails through the adjacent woods.  There is also a popular disc golf course on the property and it is popular for picnics and fishing.

Staff presence can be limited due to this parks distance from our main office, especially in winter.  It is a great location for independent self-starters who like space to themselves.  There is also a local volunteer group who is involved with the park.

Although this is a day-use area, we have a full hook-up host site ready for our Host.  On site laundry is also available. While off duty please take the time to explore the local museums, vineyards, a Great Cats Sanctuary, and of course the Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve.

Duties Include:

•                  Greet visitors to park and inform them of park rules

•                  Be a presence and keep an eye on park facilities

•                  Open and Shut Park Gates Daily

•                  Empty trash cans

•                  Litter Pick in park including disc golf course and trails

•                  Stock and clean vault toilet

•                  Perform general exterior maintenance and landscaping duties

•                  Operate lawn mower, weedwhacker, blower and other power equipment

•                  Use hand Tools

•                  Complete Small Projects

•                  Take direction from On Duty Ranger

•                  Inform Rangers of park needs
