Clatsop County occupies the northwest corner of Oregon bounded to the north by the Columbia River and to the west by the Pacific Ocean. Named for the Clatsop Indians, Clatsop County is rich in history, scenery and opportunity.

Clatsop County Parks Department is seeking a park caretaker to help operate and maintain Cullaby Lake County Park on an annual contract period beginning May 1st, 2022 through April 30th, 2023.  The caretaker lives on site in the caretaker’s own fully operable self-contained recreational vehicle (RV) of the travel trailer or motor home type for the duration of the contract. The county provides a stipend of $600/month and full hook-ups including electric, water, sewer, and garbage service.

 

Caretaker General Service Expectations

1)    Live on site for the duration of the contract and be available weekly Thursday through Monday.
2)    Perform visitor assistance/information services. Greet visitors; provide accurate information about county parks and county attractions. Open the parks gates by 8:00 am and close them at dusk.  Assist with fee collection and the selling of Clatsop County Parks annual passes.  Distribute recreation equipment to park visitors upon request.
3)    Inform visitors of park area rules and regulations. Inform Clatsop County Parks staff of visitor-related emergencies, vandalism, theft, and equipment and facility maintenance needs.
4)    Perform routine minor grounds maintenance such as mowing, plumbing repair, changing light bulbs, and checking and adding of fluids to equipment used.
5)    Perform janitorial duties such as sweep, wash, and disinfect restrooms, picnic shelters, and tables as well as other park structures as required.  Pick up and dispose of litter and garbage.  Organize and stock required janitorial supplies.
6)    Maintain a neat personal appearance and wear presentable clothing when dealing with the public.
7)    Relate effectively with general public and parks staff.
8)    Operate in an alert manner with safety as the primary concern.

Restrictions: Two pets maximum (current rabies vaccination certificate is required). Park staff will evaluate applications, contact interested parties, and select caretaker. Caretaker’s placement is contingent on successfully passing a background check.
