Job Description

Overview: Caddo Lake State Park is looking for friendly, motivated and energetic Park Hosts to work and live in its beautiful Pineywoods campground. As a Park Host, you will support TPWD’s mission by assisting with the day-to-day functions of the park and providing outstanding customer service to park visitors, maintaining the cleanliness of park grounds and facilities, and supporting basic maintenance needs.

Field Duties Include: This position assists park maintenance staff with day to day operations of a state park. Duties may include maintaining the cleanliness of assigned areas; keeping assigned bathrooms cleaned and stocked; maintaining and cleaning assigned camp loops; operating mowers, weed-eaters; other duties as assigned by maintenance specialist or volunteer supervisor. Park hosts may be asked to assist at Park HQ on a limited basis. Position requires standing for long periods of time, carrying, and walking. Shifts may vary, primarily daytime.

Required Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older. Experience with customer service and ability to effectively communicate with public, other volunteers, and staff; experience with basic maintenance and custodial tasks; criminal background check required.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience using hand tools and basic maintenance equipment; money handling experience

Time Commitment and Benefits: In exchange for a minimum of 24 volunteer hours per week, you are provided with a 50 amp full hook-up campsite. Park Hosts must commit to a minimum one-month stay, though priority will be given to those who can stay three to six months. All training and equipment will be provided. You also receive the opportunity to play a critical role in the conservation and stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of Texas!
