DESCRIPTION:

Looking for 3 couples to fill Park Host positions from May 10, 2022 – Sept. 6, 2022.

 

Fishhook Park and Campground is located on the shores of Lake Sacajawea in Eastern Washington. The lake is formed by Ice Harbor Lock and Dam on the Lower Snake River which provides visitors a wide variety of outdoor recreation. As Park Host, your primary duty will include printing reservation reports and posting reservation tags for campsites. All reservations at Fishhook are made on-line by the visitors so no money will exchange hands. Other duties include chlorine water testing, cleaning campsites, picking up trash, and answering visitor’s questions. Your schedule will be comprised of working two days on and four days off. When you’re on duty, you will be on-call throughout the night. We will provide all safety equipment, supplies, and training to perform each task. An RV/trailer site with full hook-ups (water, electric, and sewer) will be provided.

 

DUTIES
  • Spring Cleanup – Clean gatehouse and campground picnic tables at the beginning of the year
  • Open gate at 6am and close gate at 10:00pm, when on duty
  • On-call throughout the night, when on duty
  • Check-in campers
  • Post and clean campsite tags
  • Clean campsites/pick up trash
  • Inform rules to campers
  • Perform chlorine water tests

 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Desire to work 2 days on and 4 days off and live in a natural outdoor setting, with your own RV
  • Desire to meet and interact with people from varied backgrounds
  • Appearance should be neat and reflect positively on the Corps
  • Ability to remain calm in busy situations
  • Physical ability to lift 30 pounds and carry for approximately 25 feet
  • Ability to perform task in a variety of weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.)
  • Ability to spot safety hazards and take prompt appropriate action to correct in accordance with training provided

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position mostly takes place indoors/outdoors and may require extended periods during adverse conditions such as heat, cold, and rain. Volunteers are expected to have the ability to work independently but can work with other volunteers and USACE staff.
