DEPT: Fish & Wildlife Service
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Join us in Visitor Services at Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery. The hatchery raises 1.2 million spring chinook salmon annually as mitigation for the habitat loss created by the construction of Grand Coulee Dam. This unique site sits on 170 acres providing access to public recreation such as birdwatching, hiking, river floating, fishing, and horseback riding. We also welcome tourists into our visitor center for tours and educational opportunities. We see approximately 90,000 visitors each year, with many of them visiting during the busy summer tourist season. The visitor services hatchery hosts support the program by staffing the visitor center and providing tours to walk in guests. Frontline staff greet visitors everywhere on the grounds while promoting and modeling good neighborly behavior and harnessing educational opportunities! They may also support scheduled trips such as field trips, summer camps and other special events. An average work week is 24 hours with Saturday’s and Sunday’s being a regular part of the schedule. There are also opportunities to contribute to other visitor services projects such as updating interpretive sings and the story trail, making general repairs and improvements, nature trail maintenance, taking photos, and more! The sky’s the limit! We prefer availability from May 15 – October 15 but will consider partial season requests. Full hookup RV site with stunning mountain views, picnic table, fire ring and laundry facilities. Any size rig will fit.
