Job Description
The Preserve Host – Thousand Palms Oasis Preserve Host (hereafter, Preserve Host) will assist the Preserve Manager as visitor service representative for the Preserve visitors. The Preserve Host lives on-site in a fully equipped RV site (RV not included) and aids the Preserve Manager with visitors’ services and security of the Preserve. Supervision and guidance are provided by the Preserve Manager. The Preserve Host will contribute to the enjoyment and safety of visitors’ experience at the CNLM Preserve. It is important to understand that this Preserve is NOT an RV camp, and all visits are day-use/hike in only. This position requires curiosity about one or more aspects of local interest, including (but not limited to) natural history, local history, wildlife, hiking, wildflowers and/or geology, and a willingness to learn about some aspect of all these topics. The job entails primarily good interpersonal skills and light maintenance skills. You must enjoy working with other people and be able to work independently, yet as a team.
Term of service is October 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023. You will work a rotating 4-5 day work week, up to 24-30 hours per week. Weekends and holidays are required.
Secluded RV Site with full hook-ups, including 50 amp electrical, propane, internet, septic tank, water (well for RV unit and bottled for drinking), on-site storage and fabulous setting and views of wildlife.
