DESCRIPTION:
Volunteers needed at Tennessee NWR, Duck River Unit at 550 Refuge Lane in New Johnsonville to work on facility and grounds maintenance as well as some work with the biology program. RV pad adjacent to refuge intern bunk house.
We are searching for someone to join the team at Tennessee NWR to help us with conservation needs on the ground! Located on a this 51,000 acre conservation area along the Tennessee River, we offer a peaceful serene setting filled with wildlife encounters. This refuge is located near multiple other public lands to explore during your off hours.
We have a covered RV pads, with full hookups, propane, and laundry facilities in exchange for 24 hours of work per week. A work vehicle, equipment and PPE for duties are all provided. Any previous federal equipment or ATV training is desirable, but not mandatory.
We are asking at least 3 month commitment, however the opening is from March – November, 2023
Duties vary with volunteer experience, but include mowing, weed eating, painting, light construction, staining, pollinator garden and landscape maintenance, picking up trash, installing/maintenance of signs, trail maintenance and other grounds/facility maintenance.
Duties may also include working with the wood duck banding program.
