Come be part of the team connecting visitors to the flora, fauna, geography and history of our parks! This position is for an Interpretive/Campground Relief Host. 3 days a week this host will perform interpretive program tasks and 2 days a week will perform campground host duties (on the campground hosts days off).
Come host with us at beautiful Cascara campground on Fall Creek Reservoir nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Cascara is a 39-site campground on the banks of Fall Creek Reservoir approximately 35 miles from Eugene. The campsites are primitive (no hook-ups,) but the host site has full hook-ups 30 or 50 amps electric, water, and a septic tank. The rural communities of Fall Creek, Lowell and Dexter are nearby.
Time Commitment:
This position can be for a minimum of 1 month and maximum of 3 months. Approximately 20 hours per week per individual with required weekend coverage. Days off are Wednesday & Thursday, which are subject to change based on need and holidays etc. For alternative days off please talk with host coordinator
Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Putting on or assisting with interpretive programs such as our Jr Ranger Program, evening interpretive programs. Training and materials will be provided.
· Greet campers and answer questions relating to fees and/or rules. If rule enforcement is needed contact campground staff.
· Sell firewood to campers.
· Litter pick up, restocking restroom supplies, and campsite cleaning.
· Assist park staff with general landscaping including leaf and tree debris clean-up, mowing, weed eating, mulching, brush and invasive species removal.
· Clean fire pits in alignment with Agency’s fire pit cleaning and debris disposal procedures.
· Report emergencies or other park problems to park staff or local law enforcement officers.
· Issue gate keys for Fisherman’s Point group campsite if needed.
Supplemental Tasks:
· If host possesses such skills they could be asked to help with general maintenance tasks including painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
· May assist with other duties and special projects as requested by Ranger.
