Clyde Holliday State Recreation Site

Clyde Holliday SRS is a 31 site first come, first served campground.  The park is an oasis shaded by tall cottonwood trees along the sparkling John Day River.  The park has 2  teepees(open mid-April through late September which are on the reservation system), Hiker/Biker camp, hot showers and flush toilets, horseshoe pits, a nature trail along the river and a small pond for wildlife viewing with an ADA accessible fishing platform.

Work Schedule    Campground hosts work a minimum of 20 hours per person per week.  The schedule is 5 days on, two consecutive days off per week.

Accommodations   One host site #29 in the campground.  It is equipped with water, electricity, fire pit and picnic table.  No sewer hookup exists in the campground.  A large blue boy tanks is provided for your waste water needs.

Equipment Used    Electric and gas powered carts. Pickup trucks with trailers, tractors, riding and push mowers, string trimmers, blowers, and a variety of hand and power tools.

Duties

·        Check restrooms and showers daily for paper products re-stock as necessary and perform minor cleaning. During the months of March and November the hosts are responsible for cleaning the restrooms on the weekends.  Report any cleaning problems to park staff.

·        Advise visitors of Park Rules.  Your role is as an advisor only.  Any need for enforcement should be referred to park staff.

·        Answer questions from campers, assist with registration

·        Collect trash in the morning and afternoon from both the Campground and Day Use Area.

·        Rake and remove pine needles, small twigs, and garbage from camp sites.

·        During summer months (June, July, August and September) host will assist park staff with irrigation on a daily basis.  Park staff will provide training.

·        Minor park maintenance as you are physically able (litter pick up, move sprinklers, clean fire pits.

Please note: when cleaning fire pits you must utilize the fireproof metal containers provided for ashes; ashes are then saturated with water and disposed of in a specified area.  Park staff will provide training.

·        Be in the park during the evening hours and on weekends.  If you need to be out of the park during these times please notify park staff.

·        Each evening before dusk, the host will record the vehicle license plate numbers and corresponding site numbers.  This list should then be placed into the pay box for reference by park staff collecting fees.  Also, at this time, the host may distribute pay envelopes to unpaid sites.  It should be explained to unpaid campers that they are expected to register themselves at the self-registration station.

·        Hosts are welcome to extend their services into many other areas, as they are interested and trained.  Please discuss your ideas or interests with park staff before pursuing additional tasks.
