L.L. Stub Stewart State Park is looking for volunteer interpretive center hosts to join our team!

Position: Discovery Depot Host

Duration: July or September, October 2023 (if you have never hosted at Stub before you will likely be limited to a 1 month trial assignment)

Days off: Varies depending on schedule needs, but is a 4 days on, 3 days off schedule

Hours: Typically 20-30 hours per week

Duties:

Communicate well with park staff, volunteers, and visitors.  Be a courteous and constructive member of our team.
Be a positive, professional presence in the park. Greet visitors as they enter the Discover Depot. Welcome campers and guests to Stub Setwart State Park and be an ambassador for Oregon State Parks.
Use a ‘Point of Sale’ cash register interface to ring up merchandise purchases at the Discovery Depot. Reconcile cash and card sales at the end of shift.
Follow opening and closing operations including cleaning procedures and setting up and taking down signs
Provide visitors with advice and information about trail conditions and places to visit within the park
Restock items in the store as they run low
Check-in campers that have pre-registered for sites online.  Write parking passes and inform park rangers about reservation changes (early check-outs, early check-ins, etc.)
Other tasks as assigned by park rangers

Be a part of our community: work closely with Park Rangers and other volunteer hosts to assist in park operations, join our monthly potlucks and safety meetings!
All candidates that apply are screened through an interview process with the park’s Volunteer Service Leader before being offered a position.  Any position offer is contingent on passing a DMV and criminal background check, as well as completing required annual harassment and discrimination trainings and park host safety trainings.
