Description:Located on the eastern plains, Tamarack Ranch State Wildlife Area (SWA) is seeking a Volunteer Host (individual or pair). Located by the town of Crook, Tamarack Ranch is a key property for wildlife habitat, and also provides recreation such as hunting, fishing, and birding. The property is 10,696 acres with limited campsites.
Tamarack is a mandatory check in/out site, and requires reservations, a mandatory Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) check station, and is the only campsite for hunters during the fall, other than Jumbo Reservoir.
Responsibilities:
Work the check station during the fall hunting season
Assist with answering questions for hunters, anglers, and campers
Maintain campsites
Clean restrooms
Other tasks as assigned
Elevation: ~3,800 feet
Looking for 1-2 hosts for the fall 2023 season! Pairs and individuals welcome to apply. Hosts are permitted to have pets.
Time Commitment:10-20 hours per week per person, September-December
Minimum time commitment: 1 month
Desired time commitment: 1 – 4 months
Volunteer Benefits:Enjoy great hunting (especially duck), fishing, a new camp host site (coming summer 2023!), work with guidance from great staff, and help give back by helping customers and maintaining standards we set for cleanliness and customer service.
Amenities:
In exchange for volunteer service, hosts receive a free, campsite in a beautiful location! The host site is being build in summer 2023 and will include: concrete pad, electricity, water, and septic. Potential for privacy fence and crushed concrete area for parking.
