DEPT: Fish & Wildlife Service
DATES: 11/1/2023 – 4/1/2024
DESCRIPTION:
Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) is a beautiful, open marsh with tons of diversity and birds, birds and more birds! Our Refuge supports the “big 6”, (hunting, fishing, environmental education, interpretation, photography and wildlife observation) and we have visitors from all over the globe. Volunteers are needed for maintenance help. Duties include power washing, re-staining, and replacing boards on our boardwalks, picking up trash, mowing, light carpentry work, and other miscellaneous tasks.
We ask for 24 hours/person, per week in exchange for full hook ups (electricity, non-potable water, and sewer). We also have a community building onsite with laundry facilities, 2 restrooms, a full kitchen and living area for socializing. Your drinking water is provided in the community building through a reverse osmosis system.
