DESCRIPTION: Thompson’s Mills State Heritage Site is looking for enthusiastic hosts for the year 2023. We have openings for October thru December of 2023. If you love history, talking with people, and enjoying the outdoors then you will love hosting here. Our hosts take an active role in sharing and preserving Oregon’s Longest Operating Water Powered Mill. Some of the fun things we do here include giving tours of the mill, helping with school groups, helping with cider pressing events, giving turbine demonstrations, taking care of our heritage chickens and ducks, , helping preserve and care for our artifacts, running our museum and store, landscaping, mowing and of course potlucks! If you have an outgoing personality but haven never given tours before this could still be the right fit for you as we provide training and resources to help you develop your interpretive skills. We offer 3 consecutive days off. We have Wi-Fi and laundry available on site. The sites are full hookup and will fit any rv size. Thompson’s Mills is situated on the Calapooia river just outside of Shedd.
