DESCRIPTION:
Park hosts will open and close park gates, patrol the parks several times a day, check restrooms for cleanliness, pick up trash as needed and relay any security or safety concerns to Park Rangers. A park host must always have a clean, neat appearance while on duty, work a minimum of 20 hours a week but expect more especially on holidays and weekends, be able to communicate the rules and regulations to the public in a calm manner, and be able to assist the public with any questions.
Qualifications for this position include a desire to meet and interact with persons from varied backgrounds, ability to remain calm in busy situations, verbal ability to answer visitor questions and communicate park rules, physical ability to navigate camping loops and visit campsites, pick up trash, light cleaning, lift up to 20 lbs, and carry items up to 25 feet. Positions may require extended periods of time in the outdoors during adverse conditions such as heat, cold or rain. Visually able to spot safety hazards and take prompt appropriate action to correct in accordance with training provided. Must have RV with sewer hookups. Appearance should be neat and a positive reflection of the volunteer and Benbrook Lake.
