Wellington Lake Summer Seasonal Campground Host/ Park Ranger
Wellington Lake is looking to hire friendly seasonal Campground Hosts to spend the summer on the property providing visitor services, enforcing regulations and patrolling the campground, day use areas and trails. Couples, duos, and singles are encouraged to apply. Our busy summer season runs from mid-May through the end of September. The start and end dates of the position are somewhat flexible depending on the candidate’s availability.
Wellington Lake is a privately owned recreation area and campground near Bailey, CO- (a little over an hour from Denver) where guests enjoy fishing, swimming, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, and camping. Our goals at Wellington Lake are to: provide visitors with an enjoyable and safe outdoor experience and protect and conserve this stunning location for the future. We strive to achieve these goals by creating a positive, welcoming, collaborative, and encouraging work environment!
The ideal candidate would be willing to work close to 40 hours per week. The work schedule would include working on weekends, evenings and holidays. The pay rate is between $15 and $20 dollars per hour based on experience.
A rustic, no-hookups site, would be included without charge. Hosts would be able to fill water from our office, use the outhouses to dump gray/black water, and have access to trash and recycle dumpsters. Hosts would have access to the lake for recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, and paddleboarding.
Examples of Campground Host/ Park Ranger responsibilities:
-Patrol the campground, day use areas, trails and property perimeter
-Enforce rules and regulations
-Provide information and education to guests
-Resolve guest complaints in a courteous and helpful manner
-Split and stack firewood
-Staff a watercraft rental shed, assist customers with loading and unloading watercraft
-Staff the campground store, account for merchandise and check out customers
-Maintain campground by removing trash from sites and ash from fire rings
-Open and close the visitor center/store
-Check guests in for camping and day use
-Operate a cash register and account for daily sales
-Assist with special events
-Respond to emergencies
-Other duties as assigned
*Hiring is contingent on successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
Getting to Wellington Lake requires driving a minimally maintained dirt road and once at the lake there is no cell phone reception.
The nearest town to Wellington Lake is Bailey, Colorado. Bailey is located 11 miles from the lake and is accessed via a bumpy dirt road. Amenities in Bailey include a convenient store, a post office, and a several restaurants. The nearest grocery store is located in Conifer, approximately a 45 minute drive from the lake. For access to full amenities, the drive to Denver is a little over an hour.
