Maintenance Volunteer: Dates: This Position is Year Round 2020 Overview: The primary duty of the maintenance volunteer is to assist the civil engineering technician (CET) with everyday maintenance duties.   The position is required to work a minimum of 20 hours a week.  Volunteers will work Monday through Friday as scheduled by the civil engineering technician.  The volunteer will be required to provide their own transportation as needed.  Projected mileage per month will vary by area, but is projected to be low.  This position will primarily report to the civil engineering technician or when necessary the volunteer coordinator. Primary Duties: Assist civil engineering technician with plumbing, electrical and other maintenance issues.  Use various power tools and equipment. Clean and maintain storage and shop areas.  Conduct inventories of supplies and supply CET with a list of needed supplies.  Service and maintain equipment.  Start all equipment every two weeks to inspect it. Inspect shop areas to ensure safety.  Clean Corps vehicles and vessels monthly. Conduct other various duties as needed. Requirements: Volunteer with electrical and/or plumbing certifications preferred.  Volunteer must possess the ability to work well and deal with all types of people.  They must be friendly and always represent professionalism in their duties.  Volunteers must be able to effectively work with other volunteers, staff and contractors.  Volunteers should be capable of learning how to use hand and power tools as well as landscaping and lawn equipment. Volunteers are required to provide their own licensed transportation with insurance and fuel, for any duties that they may need it for.
