JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Hatteras Island District, located within Cape Hatteras National Seashore seeks out enthusiastic people who are happy to engage the public about a rich, seaside history in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
As team members, you will actively participate in duties to support the interpretive operations and mission goals of the park. Visitor center and information desk duties are primarily centered upon customer service and administrative support.
The Cape Hatteras Light Station is currently undergoing a large 18-month restoration project. The Lighthouse is closed to climbing, but the Museum of the Sea and Park Store remain open. The primary duty of this position is staffing desk at the Museum of the Sea and answering visitor questions at the Park Store. There will also be opportunities to rove around the grounds and produce educational touch-table opportunities for visitors.
There are three positions associated with this volunteer announcement: one position will be open from August 2024 – October 2024, another from November 2024 – January 2025 and the last position will be open from February 2025 – April 2025. An RV site with full hook-ups (must provide your own RV) is available with a 32 hour a week commitment.
