Volunteer Activities
• Grounds Maintenance- Mowing, trail blowing and trimming, gardening
• Buildings Maintenance- Buildings cleaning and upkeep, small odds-and-ends projects
Moores Creek has limited cell phone service and no Wi-Fi.  Verizon and US Cellular are the two that have OK service, the others do not.RV Volunteer- Grounds and Buildings Maintenance 
This position is located at the visitor center at Moores Creek National Battlefield located in Currie, North Carolina or approximately 30 minutes northwest of Wilmington. The applicant chosen will serve as a volunteer within the maintenance division for no less than two months (8 weeks) assisting park staff in maintenance of the park grounds, trails, and buildings.Moores Creek National Battlefield is seeking enthusiastic, friendly volunteers to work in the park’s Maintenance Division during the work week and on weekends throughout the year. Thousands of people visit the battlefield every year, especially on weekends to view the site of the first Patriot victory in the American Revolution and the site of the last Scottish Highland broadsword charge.Volunteers can sign up for two or three month periods by contacting the Volunteer Coordinator. Duties will include, but are not limited to, mowing, blowing and trimming trails, maintaining gardens, and assisting in maintaining the upkeep of the buildings in the park. As needed, you may be asked to communicate accurate camping rules and regulations to community service groups.Weather: Summers can be hot, humid and buggy (mosquitoes). The Spring and Fall are cool with rainy periods. Winters are generally mild with occasional windy and cold nor’easter storms.

Transportation: Personal transportation (bicycle or motorized vehicle) is required to reach local stores. There is no public transportation in the area.

Medical Facilities: Local medical centers provide basic treatment. The nearest hospital is 20 minutes away.  Wilmington, North Carolina has several hospitals and large medical facilities just 30 minutes from the park.

Housing: The park has two (2) RV pads available for volunteers who commit to no less than six (6) weeks and can extend to three (3) consecutive months of service. One RV occupant must work a 30 hours per week schedule and will have 3 consecutive days off to explore. Second RV occupant is optional and can work the same schedule, if desired, or other scheduling options can be considered. PLEASE check on your cell phone service in this area. Reception within the park can be erratic at times, the extent depending on service provider.

Pets are permitted.

Mail can be delivered to a park provided P.O. Box at the Currie Post Office (approximately 1/2 mile from the park entrance).

Please provide two references when applying, as well as a picture of your RV and vehicle(s).

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Housing Type: RV Pads
Housing Description: Volunteer hosts will be allowed to stay in the RV location and use the parks facilities free of charge in exchange for commitment of 32 hours per week for 6 weeks minimum, or 24 hours each for a couple. Hosts may have visitors stay at the host RV site free of charge. However, certain site capacity and vehicle parking restrictions will apply. Volunteers will be required to provide their own factory-built RV. The park will provide partial hookup, including 50 and 30 amp electric, water, septic, picnic table, BBQ grill and laundry. There is no cable TV or phone hookup at the volunteer RV site, although volunteers may have success with their own satellite dishes. Government computers are not available for personal internet use. A minimum of a 6 week commitment is required.
