This opportunity is at the Antietam Creek Campground. The volunteer assists the park in keeping a watchful eye on the campground and surrounding area. This includes monitoring the 20 campsites for compliance with park regulations, performing light site maintenance tasks, and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns to the park.
● Following the park’s policies and guidelines and understanding its organizational structure.
● Greeting and welcoming guests, and confirming their reservations.
● Determining which sites have not registered, and orienting guests to the registration procedures. Hosts will not collect fees.
● Removing trash from the campground and maintaining site cleanliness. Light vegetation removal can be performed when deemed appropriate.
● Cleaning ashes from the fire rings and grills as needed
● Checking the restrooms periodically. This includes re-stocking toilet paper, and reporting unsanitary conditions to park maintenance, if necessary.
● Restocking “Trash-Free” bag holders with bags provided by the park
● Relaying visitor comments and concerns to park staff.
● Reporting violations or suspicious activity through park dispatch.
