The elevation at Red Canyon is 7,400 feet in a ponderosa pine forest.
Although the weather can be unpredictable, usually summer is from June through August and is clear and warm. Highs rarely exceed the 90’s and most nights are cool; dropping into the 50’s. While trees make it cool enough during the day you probably won’t need an air conditioner, the evenings may require a heater.
Rain is infrequent, but afternoon or evening thunderstorms with lightning may occur. Wind is a frequent event, so securing awnings and lawn chairs is important.
- General housekeeping
- Slip, trip, and fall hazards
- Equipment operation
- If COVID-19 is still a public issue, most visitor interactions will be outside of the Visitors’ Center Building and masks may be required.
