Job Description
LOCATION: Thompson’s Mills State Heritage Site
DATES: April – June 2021.
Interpretive Host
3.5 Days A Week Approximately 25 Hours Per Week. May vary depending on circumstances.
Oregon’s last water powered mill needs you to open the head gates, crack corn, feed the chickens and share the Mill’s incredible story of adaptation and survival.
If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind hosting opportunity with , full hookups, free on-site laundry, free wifi, fresh eggs and a wide choice of projects you might want to learn more about hosting here.
The Mill relies on hosts who are flexible, adaptable and willing to go above and beyond as we work together to manage the unexpected twists and turns of restoring this 5-story high functioning 1862 turbine driven mill, 1904 house, 6 outbuildings and 20 acres on the Calapooia River. If you’re interested but nervous about giving tours send me an email anyway- you might surprise yourself by what you can do. Despite the workload, our 9000 visitors per year get some of the best customer service in the state making this a challenging but very rewarding park for hosting. If you’re up to the task email Ranger Rye Guessford s at rye.guessford@oregon.gov or call @ 503-798-3674 for more information.
