Awesome campground host opportunity in southeast Texas on the Sabine National Forest!
Welcome potential volunteers!
We’re excited to post a Forest Service volunteer opportunity at Red Hill Lake! The Forest Service is looking for an active and motivated individual to assist our Recreation Staff. Serve a critical role as a maintenance helper, living at the lake in a full hook up camp site. This position is focused on maintenance duties such as: providing visitors with information, isolating leaks, replacing above ground water lines, painting signs, vegetation management, trash removal, cleaning restrooms etc. This position serves as a liaison between the public and the Forest Service and quality customer service is an expectation. Good candidates would work well with others, knowledgeable of the tasks and independently motivated. This role can be filled by a couple.

Red Hill Lake is located a short distance from Toledo Bend Reservoir. Completed in 1940 by the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), this area offers camping, fishing, and swimming on a picturesque 19-acre lake. The closest cities are Milam (2.5 miles), population 1,480 people, Hemphill (10 miles), population 1,198, and San Augustine (18 miles), population 2,108.
This recreation site is opened May 1 through the last weekend in October. Area amenities include tent camping, picnic tables, vault toilets, drinking water, swimming, cold water showers, and 9 camping trailer/RV sites.
