Job Description

Caverns of Sonora has been offering beautifully guides tours of one of the world’s top show caves for almost 60 years. Come work in an engaging and friendly environment alongside fellow tour guides and be one of the few that gets to share the wonder of Caverns of Sonora with the public. You will meet customers from all over the world as you take daily tours through the cave. Work in a fast paced and engaging environment with a friendly staff in a scenic campground right on the edge of the hill country in the middle of a working ranch.

Everyday responsibilities:

Taking tours; expect to take an average of 3 tours a day, tours last 1 hour and 15 minutes; it includes 1.5 miles of walking along a paved trail. Tour Guides are expected to learn and memorize information relating to the cavern system so that they can then interpret that information to customers. Training will be provided.

Tending to the gift shop; While in the gift shop you will be waiting on customers, running registers, re-stocking merchandise and concessions. We carry a wide variety of merchandise; some merchandise will require heavy lifting

Opening/closing chores; At the beginning and end of everyday tour guides are expected to make coffee, preform minor custodial tasks such as cleaning the gift shop, as well as the restrooms.

This is an active job; expect to be on your feet most of the day. In additions to taking tours and caring for the gift shop we also manage a campground which also needs to be maintained. Some minor maintenance work is to be expected such as changing light bulbs, mowing, etc.

No experience is required, but prior experience in public speaking or customer service will help.

We offer both part-time and full-time opportunities; schedules are flexible but expect to work on weekends and holidays.

We are looking to fill up our remaining work camper spots. As we head into our busy season we are looking for work campers willing to hit the ground running with us in preparation for our summer season

Our work campers are provided full hook ups. The campground on average has anywhere from 2-10 campers a night. Our campground is always full of wildlife. The campground is large enough where you wont have to worry about noisy neighbors either.
