DESCRIPTION:
Lassen NF is looking for an Interpretive Volunteer that enjoys working with people in a outdoor setting, has a positive attitude and would like to share knowledge of our local natural resources.
The Hat Creek Ranger District is looking for people with positive attitudes and helpful dispositions who want to be part of the Visitor Services team. Visitor Services operates the Front Desk and the Visitors Information Center on our district. The selected applicants will perform guided trails tours at our local recreation sites. Applicants will also assist with interpretive exhibits, informational displays, and Forest Service activities.
The Old Station Visitor Center would be your base location. The Visitor Center hours are normally Thursday – Monday.
Volunteers must be able to serve in a team environment, with strong verbal and written communication skills. The selected individuals will need to maintain a professional demeanor and appearance. Volunteers will receive on the job training.
DUTIES
Organize and perform guided trails tours at our local recreation sites including an underground cave.
Assist with interpretive exhibits, informational displays, and Forest Service activities at the visitor center.
Coordinate monthly resource meet & greets.
Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of hiking/backpacking.
Comfortable on hiking trails and in underground cave.
Ability to create informational displays both indoors and outdoors.
Enjoys working with people of diverse cultures.
Enjoys being apart of a team.
