Martin Dies, Jr. State Park is seeking volunteers with a love for educating others about the outdoors. On-site interpretative training will be provided by the park interpreter, but a free online class is recommended prior to placement of this position. Ideal candidates will help present and create programs to educate weekend visitors about park stewardship, history, natural resources, and outdoor recreation to both children and adults of all ages. The main role of this position is to staff the nature center on weekends and holidays.
Park hosts are a vital part of the park’s operation. As a Park Host, you will have the opportunity to meet new people and help visitors have a memorable experience.
Duties include general education center cleaning, providing at least 3 educational programs on Saturday and 1 on Friday or Sunday. In exchange for 25 hrs/week of work, this Park Host will be provided with a full hook-up unmarked campsite. (Water/Sewer/Electric).
Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old. Criminal background checks are required for all persons living/staying in a Host site.
Current availability should begin in August (pending TXDOT park road construction) – January.
