DESCRIPTION:
Seeking to fill 1 Visitor Center Host Volunteer Position (single or couple) from July until September/October 2021 at the Falls Lake Dam and Visitor Center.
RV/Trailer pad (Free 50/30/120 amp electricity, water and sewer are provided) for volunteer (single or couple) onsite.
Falls Lake is a great example of a working partnership between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the State of North Carolina, and several local governments to bring our visitors a place to “get away from it all” situated just outside the bustling Raleigh/Durham Triangle Area in central North Carolina. Whether it’s camping, hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, or hunting you’d like to do – Falls Lake has it all! With over 12,400 acres of water surrounded by 25,600 acres of undeveloped public lands, we are an oasis for many from out of state and right around the corner.
• Greet visitors entering the Visitor Center: welcome, provide verbal and/or written info, hand out maps and/or information about lake, trails and local area. Answer telephone calls from the public.
• Interact and promote water safety with visitors within the park and lake
• Assist with various Outreach/Educational programs during scheduled volunteer days
• Manage life jacket inventories at State Park beaches around Falls Lake
• Assist with lock up procedures and dam operations
• Inspect bathhouses, pick up litter, gardening, other miscellaneous maintenance projects
• Uniforms will be provided by the Corps at no cost to the volunteer
