The refuge Indoor quail facility near Arivaca AZ. houses genetically important endangered birds. The work is crucial and fairly repetitive, requiring attention to detail. Quail caretaking requires training, biosecurity, and some specific apparel (boots/coveralls) that we would provide you. Due to the sensitive nature of this work, volunteers must participate in training with experienced staff prior to independent caretaking.
Generally there are opportunities for other work in addition to the primary responsibility of the quail facility help, such as outdoor flight pen and display pen maintenance and care of outdoor birds, display garden upkeep, grounds up keep, trash pick up along trails/public use areas. A minimum of 24 hours per week is required. One RV space with full hookups and a community trailer for laundry is available.
