DESCRIPTION:

Length of Service: appx. 1 month. nWeekly Required Hours: appx. 32-40

Yosemite Volunteer Program is seeking a camp host in Yosemite Valley for the month of January.

RV Hookups are available.

They would need to have equipment smaller than 24′ and it only has electricity.

No sewer or water, but hosts can empty and fill at the dump station in the Valley.

Schedule:

  • Wednesday – Saturday: 10 AM to 4 PM with a 1 hour lunch
  • Sunday – Tuesdays: Off.

Campground Hosts are hired through the Volunteers-In-Parks (VIP) program and are a valuable asset to the park’s campground operation. Major duties and requirements of Campground Host positions are listed below. On occasion, hosts assist in other areas of the park. Hosts are not required to take on law enforcement issues, however they do serve as very important eyes and ears of the campgrounds and aid in reporting any problems or situations to park rangers. Most of all, Yosemite’s Campground Hosts ensure that park visitors have as safe and enjoyable a visit as possible, and in the process, have an enjoyable time themselves!

 

 

DUTIES

    Maintain own campsite in accordance with all park regulations and set a good example for other campers.

·      Show up for scheduled hours and days. Work schedule will be discussed with supervisor upon hiring.

·      Greet and register campers as they enter the campground, keep accurate records, interpret campground regulations and directions, and assist the camper as best as possible.

·      Perform minor maintenance in the campground and kiosk. Maintain a neat, tidy, and organized work area.

·      Report any hazards in or out of the campground to an immediate supervisor.

·      Periodically make rounds in the campground in order to update records and remind campers of rules and regulations. Any law enforcement issues will be reported to park rangers.

Couples will be given priority. .

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·      Be happy, healthy, and willing to give 100%.

·      Be in good physical health, enjoy meeting and talking with people, be friendly and helpful to all park visitors.

·      Have the ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.

·      Be a team player.

·      Have a professional and courteous demeanor.
