DESCRIPTION:
Seeking to fill all types of positions at our campgrounds, day use gatehouses, and patrolling our beaches conducting water safety with visitors from 01 May to 30 September 2022.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED, ALL POSITIONS at beautiful J. Strom Thurmond Lake located on the GA/SC state line just north of Augusta, GA. Over 72,000 acres of water and over 1,200 miles of shoreline. Recruiting friendly campground hosts, cleaning staff, and day use hosts.
This positing is for volunteers to assist in the visitor center, provide education and water safety information, and assist with water safety programs and events. Additional duties include light administrative tasks, answering phones and restocking brochures.
A second positing is open for campgrounds and day use volunteers that include, open/close gates, greet and check campers in/out, print daily incoming reports, post reservation signs and conduct routine park inspections ensuring rules/policy compliance. Report any park issues to on duty Rangers. CG cleaning positions available: clean campsites, bathrooms and the park. Day Use Hosts to operate the gatehouse and welcome visitors. Full-hookup sites, picnic table, grills and firepit. Laundry facilities available at campgrounds and volunteer village.
Provide assistance to the visiting public by answering or assisting to get answers to questions, provide water safety education, knowledge or interests in other aspects of the USACE Mission are a plus. These include natural and cultural resources in the area, history of the area and dam construction, forestry fisheries and wildlife management.
Indoor work requires good customer service skills for Gate Houses, answering phones and the Visitor Center.
