DESCRIPTION:
Assisting with Nature Center operations: Greeting and engaging volunteers, general exhibit cleaning and maintenance, general landscaping, other misc. tasks.
We are looking for two -four people (2 sets of RV campers) to assist with Nature (Visitor) Center operations at the Florida Keys NWR Complex/National Key Deer Refuge on Big Pine Key, Florida Keys. Volunteers will be stations at a RV campground on Big Pine Key and working primarily at our new Nature Center located nearby. Tasks may include opening and closing the nature center, greeting visitors and community members, cleaning exhibits and indoor furnishings, general maintenance, general landscaping and watering. 24 hours/week of volunteering per person in exchange for RV site, w electric, water, sewer and laundry. The Florida Keys are a beautiful place to stay if you enjoy the outdoors and things like fishing, swimming, snorkeling/diving, boating and exploring. Sure it’s warm here in the summer, but it’s warm everywhere else at that time too and summer is best for boating and fishing!
Opening and Closing the Nature Center, Greeting visitors and community members, communicating with refuge staff, general maintenance, exhibit and nature center cleaning, some outdoor landscaping and watering plants, keeping Nature Center clean and safe, helping to keep RV campground area clean and mowed.
Enjoys working with people, informing visitors of places to visit and rules and regulations, general maintenance tasks, general landscaping tasks, exhibit cleaning. Respectful of federal Covid-19 safety precautions.
