ADDRESS: 2045 Mud Lake Road Deleon Springs, Florida, 32130

DATES: 4/1/2025 – 11/2/2025

DEPT: Fish & Wildlife Service

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Located twenty-five miles west of Daytona Beach, off U.S. Highway 17 in DeLeon Springs and near the historic Ponce de Leon Springs State Park, Lake Woodruff is approximately 22,000 acres of freshwater marshes, hardwood swamps, uplands, and numerous freshwater streams, lakes, and canals. The Refuge is 7 miles from downtown DeLand. DeLand boasts Stetson University, numerous local shops, restaurants, pop-up markets, and entertainment opportunities. Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge is seeking individuals/couples with a passion for conservation and habitat management. Candidates will play a crucial role in a variety of Refuge projects including, but not limited to, trail maintenance, carpentry, staffing informational desks, custodial, routine trash pickup, and mowing. Candidates may also be asked to assist Refuge staff in outreach and educational programming on and off-site. As such, individuals and couples must be comfortable with public speaking in front of groups of students and the public. Candidates must be willing to occasionally travel locally, using Refuge vehicles to assist with community events around the area. Concrete RV pads with full hookups, 30/50 AMP electricity, and shared laundry facilities are provided in exchange for working 24 hours/week per person. Due to the nature of the Refuge, no pets are allowed unless kept within the RV.
