DESCRIPTION:
Seeking a single or a couple to fill a Campground host position from Early May until late June, who has a travel trailer no more than 25 feet long.
Blackwoods Campground is located on the east side of Mount Desert Island, about 5 miles (8 km) south of Bar Harbor on Route 3. All sites at Blackwoods are wooded and within a 10-minute walk of the ocean. The majority of Blackwoods’ 290 sites are for small and large tents; other sites can accommodate travelers with RVs. Flush toilets, running water, and a dump station are provided, as are picnic tables and fire rings. Roads are paved.
RV/Trailer pad is offered with working 32 hours per week to qualify. Site size limited to under 25’ and site offered is a back in site. Days and times worked will be scheduled by conversation with volunteer coordinator and campground supervisor.
Daily check-ins with Campground Office
· Clean site/firepits of sites that are checking out
· Re-setting picnic tables
· Picking up wood rounds and returning to wood pile
· Removing gathered wood from sites
· Repairing minor issues of campsite pads, such as rutting by vehicles
· Trimming roadside (weedeating) within the campground
· Resetting posts at sites
· Campground rounds consisting of quiet hours checks and making visitor contacts
· Office duties, if interested
o helping with registration cards
o answering phones
o selling Eastern National Products
o helping with Junior Rangers
o answering questions outside the office
· Ability to work independently
· Ability to lift up to 30lbs – wood rounds, ash buckets, supply boxes
· Ability to walk up to 3 miles on gentle hilly areas, rough ground that is either paved or root covered
· Work in all weather conditions
· To be a team member
· Communications skills to include campground staff and visitors
