Needed From May 1, 2023
Needed To May 31, 2023

L.L. Stub Stewart State Park is looking for volunteer Cabin Village hosts to join our team!

Position: Mountain Dale Cabin Village Host

Duration: May 2023

Days off: Sunday-Monday-Tuesday

Hours: Varies, but typically 20-30 per week

Duties:

Communicate well with park staff, contractors, and visitors.  Be a courteous and constructive member of our team.
Be a positive, professional presence in the park. Help guests find their cabin codes, check-in, and purchase amenities like walk-in reservations, ice, and firewood. Answer questions about the park and what it has to offer.  Be an ambassador for Oregon State Parks!
Clean cabin exterior after outgoing reservations leave: litter pick, return lost and found items to park staff, clear fire pits, inform park staff of maintenance needs, etc. There is a contractor that cleans the interior of outgoing cabins each day.  If she is unable to get to the park, hosts and staff assist with cabin cleaning.
Ensure that reservation tags on cabins are up to date and accurate
Clean the Mountain Dale Cabin Village Meeting Hall after it is used: sweep and mop floors, wipe down counter tops and bathrooms and remove trash.
Check cabin restrooms for messes and inform park staff if extra cleaning is necessary (Park Rangers will clean the restrooms daily).  Re-stock paper products like toilet paper or sanitary bags.
Be the eyes and ears of the park: inform Park Rangers when changes occur in the cabin loop (walk-in reservation sales, early check-outs etc.).  Inform Park Staff if any problems or rules violations occur in the cabins.
Utilize small utility vehicles, mowers, weedwhackers, and blowers to keep the cabin loop and day use areas looking great for guests
Other tasks as assigned by Park Rangers
Benefits of being a volunteer host at Stub include:

Free FULL HOOKUP RV site in the Mountain Dale Cabin Village included with position
Laundry (washer/dryer) on site in our maintenance yard shop
Mail can be sent to the park address.  Each host site has a mailbox in the maintenance shop
Miles of trails to explore, including the Banks-Vernonia trail!
Be a part of our community: work closely with Park Rangers and other volunteer hosts to assist in park operations, join our monthly potlucks and safety meetings!
All candidates that apply are screened through an interview process with the park’s Volunteer Service Leader before being offered a position.  Any position offer is contingent on passing a DMV and criminal background check, as well as completing required annual harassment and discrimination trainings and park host safety trainings.
