Yosemite National Park is seeking volunteer camp hosts for Hodgdon Meadow, Crane Flat, Tamarack Flat, White Wolf, Porcupine Flat, and Yosemite Creek campgrounds. All are located along the Big Oak Flat and Tioga Roads. Camp hosts are front line representatives of the National Park Service and play a crucial role in the successful operation of park campgrounds. They help provide a safe, positive, and educational visitor experience. A minimum commitment of 6 weeks is required, and work schedule is approximately 32-40 hours per week including weekends and holidays.
Campground Amenities:
Hodgdon Meadow has 2 host sites with full hook-ups. The season runs from early April to mid-October. It contains 108 standard non-electric sites accommodating tents, RVs, and trailers. Hodgdon is located along the Big Oak Flat Road near the park entrance at 4,900ft.
Crane Flat has 2 hosts sites, 1 with sewer/water hookups and 1 dry site (no hookups). The campground is along the Big Oak Flat Rd, 8 miles east of the park entrance. Season dates are dependent upon prior winter conditions; estimated dates are Memorial Day weekend through mid-October. This 151-site (standard non-electric) developed campground sits at 6,200ft and accommodates tents, RVs, and trailers.
White Wolf Campground has 2 hosts sites, 1 with sewer/water hook-ups only and 1 dry site (no hookups). This campground is accessed by a 2 mile paved road off Tioga Road at 8,000ft. Season dates are dependent upon the opening of Tioga Road- estimated June through mid-September. This developed 74-site standard non-electric campground accommodates tents, RVs, and trailers.
The following campgrounds are primitive accommodating tents, vans, and truck campers 20ft or less. RVs and trailers are not recommended. They all have vault toilets and no potable water there is a seasonal creek that usually flows until at least late July (water must be filtered, treated, or boiled).
Tamarack Flat has 2 dry host sites (no hookups). This primitive 55-site campground is located 3 miles from Tioga Road by a fully paved (but very windy and narrow) road. The campground sits at 6,300ft. Season dates depend on the opening of Tioga Road – estimated late May through October 15.
Porcupine Flat Campground has 1 dry host site (no hookups). This primitive 55-site campground is located 15 miles west of Tuolumne Meadows along the Tioga Road at 8,100ft. Season dates depend on the opening of Tioga Road – estimated late June through October 15.
Yosemite Creek Campground has 2 dry host sites (no hookups). The access road is 4.5 miles long mostly unpaved; high clearance vehicles recommended. This 75-site primitive campground is at 7,700ft. Season dates are dependent on the opening of Tioga Road, estimated late June through early September.
