Job Summary:
Elk Meadow Cabins is a 5 star resort. Our resort consists of two properties containing 52 acres of land, 15 Vacation Rental Units, a hot tub, firepits, a tour company, 4 company vehicles and a couple of facility related buildings. Located in the middle of Redwood National and State Parks in a rural location, the Night Host is responsible for providing top-notch customer service at night, night laundry and conducting property sweeps and cleanups to make sure that the property is visually presentable and secure. We have a small team and are looking for an applicant that is willing and excited to take on and contribute to any project that comes up, no matter how big or small. Your day to day work can change depending on different situations. We are looking for someone who likes work variety and cares about creating the best experience we can for our guests and their families.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Five Star customer service to guests in the evening. Remain on call for urgent guest issues throughout the night.
- Make reservations for new, drop-in guests
- Operational and Guest Laundry as needed
- Taking out garbage, picking up litter, and spot cleaning facilities.
- Security.
- Addressing guest issues. When guest issues are more involved, determining when to call Maintenance and Hotel Management staff.
- Strong communication with ownership, management and other staff/contractors working on-site.
- Must be available for work from 6PM – 8PM, five nights a week. Host is expected to answer phones through the night for their five nights of work a week.
- This is a live-in position, where your compensation is an RV living space, electricity, water, internet, laundry in exchange for your 10 hours of work per week. There is opportunity for additional hours which will pay at the rate of $22/hour.
- If you have our own trailer/RV we have hook-ups, so you can bring your own living space.
Daily Routines Include:
- Collaborate hand-offs with the day-time supervisor and other staff.
- Run and fold laundry as needed.
- Walk property and verify that facilities are clean and secure for the evening.
- Assist new, drop-in guests with reservations.
- Make guests feel welcome, assist with simple requests, (start grill, firewood, toothbrush, toilet paper), inform them about the area.
- If guests need help with a fire, make sure that they are aware of procedures, and that they quench campfires in the pit responsibly.
- Ensure guests conduct themselves safely around the wildlife (especially Elk) that frequent the resort.
- At night, if guests face issues, respond to calls and assist with simple concerns or call for assistance.
- Clean up common areas (restroom, break room, resort grounds).
- Light maintenance, or if urgent, call maintenance in Orick.
- Run a generator in the event of a power outage.
- This is not an all inclusive list.
Ideal Candidate would also have the below:
- Experience working in Hospitality.
- Experience living in a remote, rural environment.
- Two years experience in a similar position.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Security background a plus.
- Maintenance experience a plus.
- Detail oriented, clean and organized.
- Enjoy spending time outside near wildlife and the old growth redwood forest.
- Independent, yet know when to request help and how to push back on unreasonable guest requests.
- Reliable and able to follow a consistent schedule.
Physical Requirements: This position requires manual labor (Not a Desk Job)
- Can lift at least 50 lbs.
- Can crawl, bend over and kneel.
- Can stand, walk or sit for up to an hour.
- Can work in varying weather, environments, indoors and outdoors: Temperatures are largely moderate but during the winter it will get wet.
Other:
- This work can be very dynamic with lots of last-minute changes in job requirements due to situations arising in rentals. The ideal applicant must remain flexible and willing to change tasks and help out where it is needed.
