Volunteer Activities• Campground Host • Visitor Information • General Assistance DescriptionLocation Description: Bryce Canyon National Park is located in southern Utah, high atop the Pausaugunt Plateau. At an elevaton of 8,000 feet, Bryce Canyon has mild summers, with cool spring and fall temperatures, and winters bringing lots of snow. The park preserves the amazing geology associated with the eroding Paunsaugunt Plateau on which the park is located. For more details on the park please visit our website (www.nps.gov/brca). Duties: A Bryce Canyon National Park Campground Host greets visitors professionally and courteously and orients visitors to the campground and the services and facilities in the park. They primarily help campground visitors find and secure a campsite, register properly, and understand campground rules and regulations. Bryce Canyon National Park utilizes www.recreation.gov for campsite reservations from May through mid October in Sunset Campground. Sunset Campground Hosts are responsible for posting reservation tags on all reserved campsites. North Campground is first-come, first-serve. North Campground Hosts are responsible for registering all campsites.  Campground Hosts also patrol the campground frequently to ensure compliance with campground rules and regulations, resolving minor disputes, and determining campsite availability. Bryce Canyon Campground Hosts are NOT REQUIRED to clean restrooms; however, Hosts are required to clean about 15 firepits daily. Host will be working in coordination with other camground hosts to facilitate daily patrols and camground duties. Required number of hours per week (minimum): 32 (However, due to the nature of Campground Hosting, it is not unusual for Hosts to work more than the minimum hours, as visitors often need assistance as early as 6:00 a.m., and/or as late as 11:00 p.m.) Required shifts: Evening, weekend and holiday work may be required. There are two seasons of employment for Campground Hosts: July 15-Oct 31. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR THE MID-JULY THROUGH OCTOBER POSITION. If you are interested in the mid-July to end of October position, please apply to the Campground Host (Late Summer) opportunity.   Stipend: Our budget does not allow us to pay a stipend, however, we will reimburse out-of-pocket expenses associated with living at Bryce Canyon (e.g., propane charges for RVs).
