CAMPGROUND CARETAKER POSITION DESCRIPTION – CAMP LANE
Camp Lane Organization Camp is located near Walton, Oregon and is open April through October. This position also provides services at Linslaw Boat Ramp and Austa Boat Ramp which are open year round. Lane County Parks is seeking an individual or couple to serve as Campground Caretaker. Caretakers are paid to live in the campground full-time and oversee day to day operations of the campground. They are responsible for site management of campground, reservations and sales, general maintenance and representing Lane County Parks. This position is contracted with Lane County Parks and is a direct employment.
Location: Camp Lane Organizational Camp
Compensation: $1,700 / month plus caretaker residence (3 bed / 2 bath)
Term: November 1, 2022 – October 31, 2023
Position service duties:
• Greet visitors, answer questions and be readily accessible to the public.
• Represent Lane County Parks in a professional and appropriate manner at all times.
• Manage and assist with reservations and events for the organizational camp including weddings, family reunions, and school/education events.
• Sell approved point of sale items; firewood, ice, annual and day parking passes.
• Perform janitorial duties as assigned per frequency and schedule provided by Lane County Parks.
• Perform grounds maintenance as assigned per frequency and schedule provided by Lane County Parks.
• Contact park staff or law enforcement personnel when emergencies or activities within the park area that warrant them. Provide a site presence and notify Lane County of emergency situations.
• Understand and explain County rules and code to park visitors to encourage voluntarily compliance.
• Ensure site safety and perform daily inspections of campsites/cabins, gates, restrooms, showers and other facilities.
Other:
• Maintain a tidy host site and a professional, approachable appearance.
• Daily participation in duties and site presence is required, long absence are not permitted.
• Establish and maintain a permanent residence. Full time, 24 hour site presence is mandatory.
• Other specific duties as agreed upon with park staff.
• Carry the required General Liability and Auto Insurance.
Qualifications and required experience:
• Strong customer service experience
• Proficient experience in cash handing
• Proficient in email, Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills
• Knowledge of campground operations
• Experience with janitorial and grounds keeping is preferred
• Ability to operate duties as assigned
