Seeking to fill 2 Park Host Volunteer Positions for Granger Lake from 01/20/2023 thru 09/30/2023
The primary duty of the Park Host position is to ensure the campgrounds are in the best possible condition and provide visitor assistance so users have an enjoyable experience. The position is required to work a minimum of 20-24 hours a week, with some weekend work. The volunteer will be required to provide their own transportation as needed. Projected mileage per month will vary by area, but is projected to be low. This position will report to the volunteer coordinator but may be supervised by other staff members as duties occur. Park Hosts will have set schedules. Schedules will vary depending on the park. Contact the project office for park specific scheduling. The primary duty of the Park Host volunteer is to assist the visiting public with general information and lake policies. Park Hosts will also assist lake staff with everyday monitoring of facilities.
· Assist visitors with questions and complaints. Distribute visitor comment cards. Make water safety presentations and hand out water safety items. Conduct interpretive programs on busy weekends for park visitors. Conduct daily inspections of park facilities and report by email any maintenance issues to the lake staff. Landscape entrance complexes, swim beaches and boat ramps and remove all vegetation from rock areas. Park Hosts will make rounds throughout the day (minimum of 4 per day) checking on camping occupancy and day-use capacity. Parks Hosts may work entrance booths to provide information but will not collect fees. Conduct inspections of playgrounds for safety issues and cleanliness. Water newly planted vegetation. Inspect facilities and signs for deterioration and replace signs as needed. Maintain all display boards, keeping a fresh and clean appearance. Conduct other various duties as needed.
· Volunteer must possess the ability to work well and deal with all types of people. They must be friendly and always represent professionalism in their duties. Must be able to effectively work with other volunteers, staff and contractors. Volunteer should be able to walk the park areas in hot and cold weather conditions. Volunteers should be able to conduct presentations to visitors. Volunteers are required to provide their own licensed transportation with insurance and fuel, for any duties they perform. A minimum of 20 hours a week is required in exchange for a full hookup 50/30/20 sewer site with covered RV shelter.

· Working alone as well as with teams include project Staff. Work will occur primarily in park areas but may also include wildlife and agricultural areas. Most work will occur outdoors independent from lake staff.
