Formerly a turn of the century Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) camp, it is a very popular area for fishing, water activities, waterfalls and hiking trails. The town of Lenoir is approximately 19 miles to the east with Blowing Rock approximately 25 miles to the north. The Ranger District is seeking an individual or couple to serve as campground host. Host will provide recreation and trail information, check for fee payment compliance, maintain two bathhouses, pick up trash, clean fire receptacles, and perform light maintenance as skills provide. Volunteer will maintain communication with district personnel and law enforcement as needed. The schedule is Friday – Sunday and Monday if holiday weekend with weekdays off.
