DESCRIPTION:
Marion Reservoir is looking to fill multiple campground host positions for our 2023 Recreation season across all campgrounds.
Marion Reservoir has two Class A campgrounds and two Class B campgrounds along the reservoir. Our two Class A campgrounds are Cottonwood Point and Hillsboro Cove Campground while our two Class B campgrounds are French Creek Cove and Marion Cove. We are looking for both Maintenance Volunteer(s) and Campground Host(s). Volunteer(s) will be responsible for the duties in their respective parks and may be asked to help rangers, maintenance staff or other volunteer staff with projects in both theirs other campgrounds on occasion. Some duties include but are not limited to:
o Campground Host(s) – Assisting visitors with questions about lake project, informing them about rules within the campgrounds, helping them with reservations, maintaining and updating bulletin boards, help with small beautification projects around the campground, occupy the visitor center to help visitors coming in and out of the campground, assist ranger staff with small projects.
o Maintenance Volunteer(s) – Perform light maintenance tasks around the parks which could include things like painting, staining, light carpentry work (replacing boards on shelters, picnic tables, fish cleaning tables, fixing up bulletin boards). Landscaping such as weeding flower beds, trimming trees and bushes, cleaning up fallen branches around parks. Helping ranger staff or maintenance with minor projects around the campground. Tools will be supplied to do any project given.
· Volunteer(s) staff are expected to provide 20 hours of work a week in exchange for a full hookup 50-amp site. Total length of stay can be discussed for varying periods.
o Common tasks include picking up sticks and small pieces of trash around the parks, interacting with park visitors answering questions and being a presence around the campground, alerting rangers to problems that may be happening in the parks, helping ranger and maintenance staff with small projects around the parks.
No prior volunteer experience required but is preferred.

o Park Host(s): Park Host(s) will experience both a mix of indoor and outdoor work while both working both independently and with USACE staff. They will work in the guard shack assisting visitors, answering questions, informing them about the rules of the campground. Outside they may be assisting Both USACE staff and other volunteer(s) with small maintenance tasks around the park, cleaning up small articles of trash or branches.
o Campground Maintenance Volunteer(s): Maintenance volunteer(s) will experience mainly outdoor work both independently and with USACE staff. Tasks may include taking care of flower beds, picking up trash and branches, helping prune and maintain trees, maintenance on signs, shelters, picnic tables, such as painting, replacing boards, filling potholes.
