DESCRIPTION:

White Horse Hill National Game Preserve is seeking 1-2 enthusiastic, friendly volunteers to assist staff in the day-to-day operations of this Refuge. Most duties will require the ability to work independently. RV pad with full hookups (electric, water, sewer) will be provided in exchange for 24 hours of work per week. A minimum 3-month commitment is preferred.

Located in northeastern North Dakota, White Horse Hill National Game Preserve (NGP) offers a unique blend of three habitats including woodlands, prairie, and wetlands. Visitors enjoy the opportunities to see bison, elk, and prairie dogs among numerous other species of mammals and birds that are frequently sited in these habitats. Join our friendly visitor services staff in welcoming over 70,000 visitors per year.

 

DUTIES

White Horse Hill NGP is seeking 1-2 enthusiastic, friendly volunteers to assist staff in the day to day operations of the refuge (administrative and maintenance). Most duties will require the ability to work independently, and may include but are not limited to: trail maintenance, painting, gardening, trimming, mowing, greeting visitors, trash pickup, and occasional nature store operation.

A uniform shirt/vest will be provided and is required to maintain the professional consistency of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Any necessary training will be provided.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Valid drivers license required to operate government vehicles. Volunteers will be required to work a minimum of 24 hours per week in exchange for use of the on-site RV pad and hookups.
